Many Christians believe that they have to understand everything about their faith for that faith to be genuine. This isn’t true.

There are many things we don’t understand about God, His Word, and His works. And this is actually one of the greatest things about the Christian faith: that there are areas of mystery that lie beyond the keenest scholarship or even the most profound spiritual exercises. Sadly, for many people these problems raise so many questions and uncertainties that faith itself becomes a struggle.

But questions, and even doubts, are part of faith.

Chris Wright encourages us to face the limitations of our understanding and to acknowledge the pain and grief they can often cause. In The God I Don’t Understand, he focuses on four of the most mysterious subjects in the Bible and reflects upon why it’s important to ask questions without having to provide the answer:

Liberal Christian theology is a big topic in today’s churches and seminaries. But what does liberal theology really mean and why is it so controversial? What does it actually believe about truth, Scripture, and Jesus Christ? And where does it lead?

The term “liberal theology” is often misinterpreted, confused with a set of loose ideologies within the Christian faith and sometimes rallied behind by genuine Christians who are simply concerned about modern social justice issues. It’s also been wrongly leveled against churches and even entire denominations that don’t adhere to the tradition of liberal theology.

Against Liberal Theology, is written in a direct and conversational tone that makes sense of this theological movement by:

Practical and Gospel-centered thoughts on how to have a fruitful ministry by one of America’s leading and most beloved pastor.

Many church leaders are struggling to adapt to a culture that values individuality above loyalty to a group or institution. There have been so many “church growth” and “effective ministry” books in the past few decades that it’s hard to know where to start or which ones will provide useful and honest insight.

Based on over twenty years of ministry in New York City, Timothy Keller takes a unique approach that measures a ministry’s success neither by numbers nor purely by the faithfulness of its leaders, but on the biblical grounds of fruitfulness.

Behind many of the challenges facing us today is a failure of leadership. This is not a new problem. Yearning for wise guidance and effective authority is a perennial human longing. We need leaders who are credible, competent and committed. But many leaders seem to be caught up, even consumed, with their own power and agendas. Some see the leadership crisis as an intellectual problem, believing we lack a clear theory of leadership. Others view the breakdown of leadership as a result of increasing deficiency in moral character.

Most leadership books today revolve around the concepts of motivation, inspiration, empowerment, and teamwork. Helpful as these themes might be, they miss something more fundamental. Leadership needs a theological foundation, that will be useful for shaping the undergirding principles, and evaluating current leadership theories and practices. We need to view leadership from the vantage point of God.

Equips Christian counselors and therapists to confidently use mindfulness techniques with their clients in a way that is both practical and biblical.

Accessing mindfulness is a therapeutic touchstone for a range of emotional issues, from mild distress to the treatment of trauma, but the term mindfulness has often left Christians wary. But the quality of mindfulness—of being fully present, aware of ourselves and our situation so that we can better respond to the chaos around us—is a profoundly biblical concept. And it can be used effectively by Christian counselors and healing practitioners.
