Once you see your gifts from God’s perspective, your giving will never be the same.

When she was a toddler, Jeff Anderson’s daughter opened his eyes to how delighted God is with our gifts. She brought him a plastic donut from her play kitchen, and he was surprised by the intensity of his reaction. His delight in receiving this simple gift—and his daughter’s joy in giving it—led him to dig deeper. Anderson would not rest until he found the scriptural connection between our gifts and God’s heart.

Plastic Donuts removes the awkwardness and uncertainty that often accompany discussions about giving. Now you can think differently—and biblically—about what and how you give.

Your gifts can capture God’s attention and connect you more intimately with His heart. Plastic Donuts brings everyone—leaders and followers, teachers and learners—onto the same page.

Simply put, condemnation spiritually paralyzes a person. Condemnation makes them feel unfit for service, in the Kingdom of God. Condemnation takes away a person’s godly boldness. Condemnation takes away a person’s godly confidence (to approach God, and the assets of God). Condemnation takes away a person’s acceptance of being in right standing with God. God does not want you to be spiritually paralyzed, after becoming saved, via condemnation. Thus the reason why you have to make certain godly moves, to avoid condemnation from taking root, in your life. Once you get saved, you have to know that it is not about what you did (e.g., sin committed). It is about what Jesus did on the cross, for you.

What did Jesus do? He made available, salvation, and the precious blood of Jesus (that cleanses, and removes all your sin – all forms and all manifestations of sin). And because of the blood and salvation, you are in right standing with God. And as you are in right standing with God, it is important for you to know that all your sin, has been removed from your profile. And because of that, you are not to be in condemnation, and you are not to be the victim of slander / accusation. And because of that, you are to have a sense of godly confidence, godly boldness, and a godly knowing, that you are fit for service in the Kingdom of God. Why? Because of Jesus, what Jesus did for you on the cross, because of salvation, because of the finished works of Jesus on the cross, because of God’s grace, because of the blood of Jesus, because of your faith in Jesus.

In Rules for Reformers, Douglas Wilson poaches the political craft of radical progressives and applies it to Christian efforts in the current culture war. The result is a spicy blend of combat manual and cultural manifesto. Rules for Reformers is a little bit proclamation of grace, a little bit Art of War, and a little bit analysis of past embarrassments and current cowardice, all mixed together with a bunch of advanced knife-fighting techniques. As motivating as it is provocative, Rules for Reformers is just plain good to read.
Thanks to Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals: A Practical Primer for Realistic Radicals — a book well-beloved by Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and many others — for much of the shrewd advice, and for none of the worldview.

As a believer, you cannot allow this (build-up of negative mind invaders) to happen, as it will eventually (if not cast down with the power of God), lead to the full construction / completion of a negative mental stronghold. As a born again Christian, it is important to always remember that your mind is to be reserved for the Word of God, and the Word of God only. You don’t have the luxury to dwell on things contrary to God – not for a second. 1 Corinthians 2:16 (AMPC) states “For who has known or understood the mind (the counsels and purposes) of the Lord so as to guide and instruct Him and give Him knowledge? But we have the mind of Christ (the Messiah) and do hold the thoughts (feelings and purposes) of His heart.” From this verse, you learn that you are to have the mind of Christ (for all areas of life) and nothing contrary to the mind of Christ. No matter how small it may seem, you are to see all negative mental invaders (to your mind) as negative building blocks, that will aid in the construction of a negative mental stronghold. And every time you cast down a negative mental facet that enters your mind, you can equate this to taking away a building block that is going towards the construction / completion of a negative mental stronghold.

“Everyone is so busy giving the classical education to the students that I’m not sure people have taken the time to actually tell them why it matters…”

Rebekah Merkle knows which high school classes you like and which you roll your eyes at, which books you enjoy and which you kinda skim. That’s because she went through this whole thing called classical education, too: She was a guinea pig in one of the very first classical Christian schools in the country.

Written for students by a (former) student, Classical Me, Classical Thee is lighthearted and — most importantly for you busy high-schoolers — very short. It has a simple goal: to explain why you students are doing what you do in class. (SPOILER: Grades aren’t the point — you won’t use your knowledge of the Iliad Book 5 every year until you die.)

What you do in class is a drill — and nobody drills for the sake of the drill. You do drills so that you can win the game. The real tragedy, though, would be if you didn’t know you were doing drills… or didn’t know there was a game at all.

Grades aren’t the point. So drill to win.
