Are you anxious, worn out, and weary?

We live in an anxious world. It is common to have anxious moments. Some of us have anxious lives. We are to be anxious for nothing, Philippians 4:6, yet most of us are anxious for something. What are you anxious for? Perhaps your job, your family, or your health? Maybe you don’t even know why you are anxious, you just know you are. God wants you to live a blessed life, not a stressed life.

How can you be less anxious?

You may have tried medication, diet, and exercise. You may have a fidget spinner or cuddle therapy dog. Don’t neglect your soul in your pursuit to be less anxious. We are often anxious because our souls are restless. Panic to Peace targets your soul, pointing you to Jesus, the Prince of Peace.

Panic to Peace, formerly Truths for the Anxious Christian, provides 31 biblical solutions to anxiety. It follows the fictional character Anxious Arnie in his quest to be less anxious. The 31 solutions, written in a devotional format, can be read: One per day for a month, several at a time, or all in one sitting.

Here are some of the sources of anxiety given:

The Rat Race of Life

Carrying a Heavy Load

Feeling Trapped

Freeling Alone

Fear

Broken Relationships

Having a Bad Day

Here are some of the solutions to anxiety given:

Live one Day at a Time

Focus on the Master, not the master closet

Encounter God 70,000 times

Have breakfast with Jesus

Give God your backpack

Don’t Doubt, Shout

Learn the Lesson of Contentment

This book will help you

Understand spiritual aspects of anxiety

Improve your mindset and attitude

Spend quality time with God

Find hope for the daily struggles of life

Have more peace

Be less stressed

Jason is not just writing from the perspective of a pastor, who has helped others in their anxious moments. He has experienced it himself, living a joyful, yet frantic life as a husband, father to three children, and a pastor.

hearing the spiritAuthor(s): Christopher Ash

How does the Spirit relate to the Bible? This book is for those who are ‘thirsty for a deeper experience of the Spirit of God’. There is much confusion about how Jesus relates to the Holy Spirit, how Jesus the Eternal Word relates to the Bible. People say, ‘You have too much Bible and not enough of the Spirit’ or it “It all very well talking about the Spirit but where’s the Bible?’ Whatever our background, we tend to fall back on untested prejudices or worry about unexamined doubts. This careful biblical argument, drawing mainly from John’s gospel, helps us to see the answers to these questions in a firmly Trinitarian understanding. Hearing the Spirit is the way we know the father through the Spirit. By asking where the Bible fits in this process, this helps us listen more deeply to the words of God.

Christopher Ash is an ordained minister in the Anglican Church and Director of the Cornhill Training Course, a one-year course designed to provide Bible-handling and practical ministry skills to those exploring their future role in Christian work.

“This book explores how Jesus continues to make the Father known today. More precisely, it explores the relationship between the past, ‘I have made known’ and the present and future, ‘I will continue to make known’. It is a wonderful and vital subject. The answer is going to focus on the work of God the Holy Spirit and the purpose and function of the Bible. In contemporary jargon, you might say this book was about the sometimes controversial topic of ‘Word and Spirit’.”

Make Love, Make WarAuthor(s): Brian Doerksen
Publisher: David C. Cook
Price: $0.99       Buy Now!

Worship elevates us into God’s presence, renews our spirits, and expresses our deepest love for our Savior. Yet worship can also be a call to arms, a battle cry, a salvo in an ancient spiritual struggle.

Acclaimed songwriter Brian Doerksen believes that God is calling us to both love and to battle. To spread peace and wage spiritual warfare. We do this through how we live, how we serve Him, and how we protect and fight for what matters most. For Brian, music was his answer to this provocative call.

Now Brian shares the stories and inspirations behind some of today’s most acclaimed songs of worship, including “Come, Now is the Time to Worship,” “Hallelujah (Your Love is Amazing),” and “With All My Affection.” Brian shares rich truths and insights that informed twelve of his greatest songs, and offers special tips for aspiring songwriters. Readers will be encouraged to wage spiritual war and share His love through a life of radical worship.

5 devotionals for women, reflecting on our journey to the Promised Land.

Are you wandering in the wilderness of life? Losing your battle for contentment? Come follow the Israelites’ journey to the Promised Land, and see the parallel struggles in your own life. Find hope and encouragement for your desert times of want and uncertainty.

Our broken, fallen world is marked by a constant struggle for contentment. In the difficulties of each day, we can be prone to complain and think the grass is greener on the other side. We can doubt God’s goodness and plan for us, especially when our path is dark and we feel lost in the wilderness of life.

The Israelites’ journey to the Promised Land was a journey much like our own. Fear, discontentment and a failure to trust God plagued the very people he had miraculously delivered from slavery. In this gospel-centered devotional, busy women will find encouragement through the ups and downs of life as they glean insights through daily readings, short teachings, and personal-reflection questions for each day. Author(s): Stanley Hauerwas & Jean Vanier

How are Christians to live in a violent and wounded world? Rather than contending for privilege by wielding power and authority, we can witness prophetically from a position of weakness. The church has much to learn from an often-overlooked community―those with disabilities.
In this fascinating book, theologian Stanley Hauerwas collaborates with Jean Vanier, founder of the worldwide L’Arche communities. For many years, Hauerwas has reflected on the lives of people with disability, the political significance of community, and how the experience of disability addresses the weaknesses and failures of liberal society. And L’Arche provides a unique model of inclusive community that is underpinned by a deep spirituality and theology. Together, Vanier and Hauerwas carefully explore the contours of a countercultural community that embodies a different way of being and witnesses to a new order―one marked by radical forms of gentleness, peacemaking, and faithfulness.
The authors’ explorations shed light on what it means to be human and how we are to live. The robust voice of Hauerwas and the gentle words of Vanier offer a synergy of ideas that, if listened to carefully, will lead the church to a fresh practicing of peace, love and friendship. This invigorating conversation is for everyday Christians who desire to live faithfully in a world that is violent and broken.
This expanded edition now includes a study guide for individual reflection or group discussion.

a year with GodAuthor(s): Richard J. Foster
Publisher: HarperOne
Price: $1.99       Buy Now!

Many people are longing to find the footprint of God in their daily lives. This beautiful daily companion is comprised of 365 selections of scripture, commentary, meditations, and daily exercises to help readers see how they can bring their entire life into a life with Immanuel – a God who is with his people.

In Richard Foster′s best-selling book, Celebration of Discipline, he explored the “classic disciplines,” or central spiritual practices of the Christian faith. Foster showed that it is only by and through these practices that the true path to spiritual growth can be found. In A Year with God, the spiritual disciplines are presented in such a way that does not destroy the soul but enables the reader to enter into a transforming life with God.

Through daily spiritual exercises and meditations, A Year with God explores eighteen spiritual disciplines. The inward disciplines of meditation, prayer, fasting, and study offer avenues of personal examination and change. The outward disciplines of simplicity, solitude, submission, and service help prepare one to make the world a better place. The corporate disciplines of confession, worship, guidance, and celebration bring one nearer to others and to God. Each discipline will be given twenty days of readings, beginning with scripture and followed by commentary, a meditation, and a spiritual exercise. Practicing these spiritual disciplines will help readers live intentionally, contributing to a more balanced spiritual life and a reformation of the inner self.
