Jan 19/13 UPDATE: As of right now every deal that we would expect to be free/discounted for Canada that originally wasn’t, now is. This fix also affected multiple publishers which is fantastic news. We are hopeful that this is the end of the two week drought on Canadian deals. The next two days should confirm that as new books are put on sale. Feel free to browse through our free/discounted sections and pick up any of the deals you missed.
E-books have territory restrictions, which means that both Amazon and the book publisher (depending on the agreement) have the authority to set the price and availability differently in each region. Since we’ve started we’ve always tracked deal prices for both Canada and the United States. There have always been deals available only to certain regions but most have been valid for all of North America. Since January 1, 2013 something has changed. An unusual amount of deals are no longer available to Canadians, including regular promotions that have been available previous to Jan 1st. So, what happened?
Our Role
Before we answer that question it’s very important that we explain our role in this process. The decision of which books go on sale, the price it will be listed at and which regions it’s valid for are not decisions we make. We’re not a website that MAKES deals, we’re a website that FINDS deals. We desire that no one be left out of a great deal, especially Canada since that is the country we’re based out of. However, the decision is not ours.
What’s happening?
Every time we notice a region error, we make sure to alert the publisher. Their response back to us indicates that the problem is with Amazon, not them. When the publisher hears from us about the error they respond back that they’ll get in touch with Amazon to rectify the situation. With their help we’ve seen a few books that have been corrected a few days later, but most remain unchanged. On top of that, the new promos continue to start as available for Americans only.
Today after speaking with David C. Cook they issued this statement by e-mail.
A note for our Canadian readers: Amazon is currently not offering our free eBooks on their Canadian store. We hope to have this resolved soon, but in the meantime, the free downloads will be available on iTunes Canada and other participating retailers.
So to all of our Canadian readership, we’re really sorry that you’re missing out on some great deals. There are still many deals that are available to you and we are optimistic that this issue will be rectified. We’ll keep you up-to-date with any further developments. Stick with us.

Does Distant Starlight Prove the Universe Is Old?

You’re also going to be able to buy one of Dr. Lisle’s Kindle books at a discounted rate, ask him your questions live (by video and by chat) & have an opportunity to win a brand new Kindle Paperwhite loaded with 150 E-Books.

Amazon has breathed new life into the Kindle Touch with an update to their firmware. With this latest version (5.3.2) some are calling the new Touch a “Kindle Paperwhite without the high resolution and frontlight”. I just installed the update to my personal Kindle Touch a few minutes ago and after a quick look, that appears to be an accurate assessment. This is a pretty exciting update that was unexpected in light of of the fact that the Kindle Touch is a discontinued device.
To learn how to install this update on your Kindle Touch please visit this page.
New features in this update include:
Updated User Interface: We have an updated and streamlined interface for your Kindle. Archived Items has been renamed to Cloud and appears in the top left of your screen under the toolbar. All your archived items can be found there.
Book Covers on the Home screen: View the covers of your books by selecting Cover View in the menu from the Home screen.
Time to Read: Kindle Touch calculates your reading speed to let you know when you’ll finish your chapter or book.
Recommended Content: We’ve made it easy to discover new titles with recommended content. The Kindle Store uses the same personalised customer experience you’re used to across Amazon.co.uk; matching our best recommendations to your personal reading habits.
Enhanced Sample-to-Book Experience: When you buy a book after reading a sample, we will now automatically start the book at your last reading location in the sample and remove the sample from your Kindle.
Parental Controls: With the latest software update, parents can restrict access to the Experimental Web Browser, Kindle Store, and Cloud. When the Kindle Store and Cloud are locked with Parental Controls, you can continue to buy books from a computer and send them to your Kindle wirelessly.
Children’s Books and Comics: Children’s books come to life with Kindle Text Pop-Up, enabling you to easily read text over images. Comic books can now be read with Kindle Panel View, which allows you to read a comic book panel by panel.

Gospel eBooks is excited to partner together with New Leaf Publishing Group to bring you our second on-air Google Hangout.
What is a Google Hangout? It is a live video chat that is broadcasted publicly. Up to ten people can participate by webcam, but anyone can watch and comment live. To see what a Hangout looks like, you can watch our first one with Ray Comfort here.
This coming Tuesday, Jan 15th at 7pm CT we’d like to invite you to a live on-air Hangout out with us and Dr. Jason Lisle.
Who is Jason Lisle? He is the Director of Research and a featured speaker and writer for the Institute for Creation Research. He holds bachelor of science degrees in physics and astronomy from Ohio Wesleyan University, as well as a master’s and PhD in Astro-physics from the University of Colorado. As a creation scientist Dr. Lisle effectively communicates a broad range of topics from in-depth presentations of distant starlight, Einstein’s relativity, and problems with the big bang to topics from astronomy and general science to apologetics and dinosaurs. Dr. Lisle has authored a number of books which include: Taking Back Astronomy, Discerning Truth, Old-Earth Creationism on Trial, and The Ultimate Proof of Creation.
Live Q & A
Not only will you have the opportunity to learn from Dr. Lisle, but he’ll be taking some of your questions too. We’ll be taking questions live from the chat during the Hangout as well as allowing a few of you to join us by webcam to ask Dr. Lisle your question in person. More details on that will come later.
E-Book deal
At Gospel eBooks we’re all about getting you books you want to read for a fraction of the cost. So we’re excited to let you know that one of Dr. Lisle’s Kindle books will be offered at a substantial discount for this Hangout.
Huge Giveaway
As if a live video Hangout with Dr. Lisle and a deal on one of his e-books wasn’t great enough, we still have more! In collaboration with New Leaf Publishing, we’ll be giving away a brand new Kindle Paperwhite pre-loaded with 150 (yes, one hundred and fifty) of their e-books. The winner will be announced on the Hangout so you will not want to miss this.
RSVP
This Hangout will surely strengthen your faith, give you answers for the hope that is within you (1 Peter 3:15) and be a witness that the Bible and the Christian faith can be trusted. Please RSVP and invite your friends (Christian and Non-Christian) through the Google+ and Facebook event invitations.

2012 has been an incredible year for Gospel eBooks. We’ve been awed by the growth of the site this year. We’re so grateful for you, our readers that you keep coming back to find and buy books for your Kindle through us. Thank you. Seriously. Thank you.
To celebrate an amazing year, we thought we’d let you know some of big things that’s happened with this site in 2012 along with some interesting stats.
What were the biggest deals of 2012 based on first day sales?
1. 7 by Jen Hatmaker
was $2.99 – 371 copies sold in one day
2. Bonhoeffer by Eric Metaxas
was $1.99 – 355 copies sold in one day
3. The Meaning of Marriage by Tim Keller
was $2.99 – 347 copies sold in one day
What was Gospel eBooks favourite deal of the 2012?
There were so many amazing deals and great freebies offered this year. It may seem like a hard choice to pick just one deal, but it’s not. In April David C. Cook gave us a phenomenal freebie that easily takes the #1 spot for our favourite of 2012. For 48 hours they gave away all three of Francis Chan’s bestsellers (Crazy Love, Forgotten God & Erasing Hell). It’s deals like that, that make e-reading so irresistible.
In March 2012 we had a new logo designed. I (Jeremy) created our first logo and although I thought it was pretty good, when compared to our new logo it looks really bad. Our new logo was designed by Quincy Harriman who won the design contest on 99designs.com. He did such a great job we hired him to do more graphics for us including business cards, a poster and some banners too.
In March 2012 we had a really fun contest called “Take A Picture“. You can view all the entries here. The winner was @frombrandon who’s entry is to your left.
In June 2012 we had the uber-talented Seun Jubril create a promo video for us. He did an amazing job!
In July 2012 we started a Street Team. Quincy created an awesome poster and card for us and you all flocked to help us get them out. We’re so grateful for the 90 of you that signed up to join us. You put posters up in seminaries, christian schools, your churches and workplaces. We loved hearing from you about how you were sharing Gospel eBooks.
In October 2012 we celebrated our 2nd Birthday. We give away a prize each day that week ending with a grand prize of a brand new Kindle Paperwhite.
In November 2012 we had our very first author Google Hangout. Together with New Leaf Publishing group we had a great chat with Ray Comfort, had his book discounted & gave away another Kindle Paperwhite but this time stocked with 150 books (thanks New Leaf).
THANK YOU FOR SUCH AN AMAZING YEAR! We’re excited about what 2013 will have in store. We’re looking forward to more contests, more Google Hangouts, more surprises and more amazing Christian e-Book deals.
