Publisher: Crossway
Price: $3.99 (Ends Aug 18)
“But many who are first will be last, and the last first.” –Matthew 19:30
The Bible is full of ironic situations in which God overturns the world’s wisdom by doing the opposite of what is expected—people are punished by their own sin, the persecution of the church is the catalyst for its growth, Paul claims to have strength through weakness, and more. In this book, biblical scholar G. K. Beale explores God’s pattern of divine irony in both judgment and salvation, finding its greatest expression in Jesus’s triumph over death through death on a cross. Unpacking this pattern throughout redemptive history, Beale shows us how God often uses what is seemingly weak and foolish to underscore his own strength and power in the lives of his people today.

A unique and validating look at the tension you feel between disillusionment and a desire for truth, Searching for Enough helps you see your doubt not as an emotion to fear but as an invitation to be followed.
Do you ever find yourself thinking, “I’m not enough, and I’m never going to be. And I know I’m not supposed to say this, but God’s not enough for me either.”
Whether or not we attend church, deep down we wonder if the biblical story of faith is really enough for the complexity of the world in which we live. We fill our lives with other things, hoping that maybe the next experience or accomplishment will complete us. Yet with every goal we reach, we still feel discouraged and anxious.

I questioned God. How can He be who He says He is? The only way we know God is by studying His Holy Word that He has presented to us with about sixteen hundred years of writing time with some forty authors mostly who didn’t know each other. Did what they write mesh from Genesis to Revelation? I tested God looking for problems through what He presented trying to satisfy my questioning mind and heart. Keeping in mind that all Bible translations lack the original point-in-time cultural flare that removes some of the God’s beauty, but we have enough information to find that one special road designed for each of our unique needs to enter into the Throne Room of God, a most precious place to praise Him.
I did not present my method of testing God but the results of what I was needing to know to prove Him and He wins on all fronts. God’s word is amazing when you take a few minutes to absorb how He’s reaching your heart and mind. It’s mind blowing that the Bible can address the needs of billions of people putting each of us on that one single road to the enormous Throne Room of His love, mercy, forgiveness, sinless, and blessings upon blessings heavenly community. Yes, we will know our small children and other believing loved ones who, while on earth, changed their address to the Kingdom of Heaven. I hope to see you there and it’s all for the glory of Jesus.
