“What a treat this wonderful book is! Beautifully written and an accessible and easy read, it is both a scrupulously honest and totally engrossing account of the Reformed Presbyterian Indian Mission to the Comanche-Kiowa-Apache reservation near Fort Sill in what is now Oklahoma.…You have to get this book.”
GORDON J. KEDDIE author, retired pastor
“Having lived in neighboring Kansas and known people like the pioneering missionaries described in this book, I was fascinated with the details captured here. Based on meticulous research and a vast archive of letters, it tells a story that is well worth remembering and understanding.”
ROBERT WUTHNOW, professor of sociology, Princeton University, author of What Happens When We Practice Religion: Textures of Devotion in Everyday Life
In 1889, William Work Carithers went to Oklahoma with two urgent goals—bringing the good news of Christ to the Indians, and helping them gain skills necessary to survive the white culture that was about to engulf them. But he had only twelve years before white settlers arrived on the reservation, 30,000 in a single day. The effect on the Indian way of life was devastating. The narrative follows Carithers to the end of his life, when his once successful mission begins to falter, and he assesses what has been accomplished.

This is not a light study with a few leadership principles to take home. This is for those who want to take a good look at biblical qualifications for leadership and are willing to shine the light of the Word on their lives and model them after the Apostle Paul.
Nine lessons are especially geared for elders, deacons, and those interested in the church office, but contain biblical wisdom for all current and aspiring leaders.

Definitions of gender, marriage, and family are evolving almost daily. Surveys of younger generations show much greater acceptance of unbiblical norms. Part of the problem is that relatively few people know and understand what the Bible says, from cover to cover, about these foundational aspects of society. Read what the Bible has to say about the family from this biblical counseling expert.

Author(s): Vince Ward & Samuel Ward
Publisher: Crown & Covenant Publications
Price: FREE (Ends this Friday)
When Vince Ward was growing up in Canada, he was obsessed with achieving personal glory—in sports, music, or a flashy career. Upon his conversion, he became convinced of his need to seek God’s glory rather than his own. This pursuit led him, along with his wife and growing family, to the new mission field of South Sudan, where his love for his Savior and desire to serve Him deepened. In the ten years to follow, he saw God’s glory revealed in the most difficult circumstances.
Also included is the story of Samuel Ward, his son, born to a childhood very different from that of his father’s. Growing up in a hut amid threats of civil war, disease, and poisonous snakes, he watched his parents striving to spread the gospel in an unforgiving environment. His story is both astonishing and touching, a vivid portrayal of a boy’s experience growing up on the front lines of the mission field.
