Hey everyone, it’s Jeremy, the founder of Gospel eBooks. We don’t talk often because this site isn’t about me, but rather it’s about the books we post. Because of that I’ve tried to make sure the spotlight has been off me for this 6.5+ years we’ve been running. However, this is a very important life update that may affect the site (hopefully in vary minor ways). Before we get going I’ll just tell you I am 32 years old, have four young children (with a fifth due in a few months) and have been happily married for almost 11 years. I love and am exceedingly grateful for Gospel eBooks because it allows me to work from home with my family and provide for them AND it allows my wife to be alongside me too as a full time home-maker. Please bear with me as I tell you what is now happening.
Since the night of June 2nd I have been having some serious health complications that included strong abdomen pain, back pain, and breathing problems. After numerous tests with specialists they have found the issues.
My breathing issues are because I have many large blood clots in my lungs which if they weren’t dealt with soon would have been fatal. It’s putting a lot of stress on my heart so that’s where doctors are focusing their time and effort on now trying to stabilize my heart and breathing before they move on to the next issue.
The lower body pain I’ve been experiencing is confirmed to be cancer. Though the cancer started in my lower body it has been moving upwards and I have a grapefruit sized tumor in my stomach which is wrecking havoc on my body as it’s wrapped around blood vessels and pushing organs around. It is also what’s been causing the blood clotting in my lungs. Both surgery and chemotherapy will be employed to deal with the cancer in various places.
So much has happened so soon. Just as early as a week ago–standing, walking, and turning were all movements I did without thinking but now are very difficult and can sometimes only be done with assistance or pain medication. I’m not able to help my wife with even the simplest of things and can expect to be mostly bed-ridden for the foreseeable future.
Even though I received a lot of bad news quickly, I am in good spirits. I am not scared or worried. My theology is keeping me grounded through this all. Particularly the Bible’s teaching on God’s sovereignty (Daniel 4:35) and the fact that he promises to work all things (including cancer) together for my good (Romans 8:28). Knowing I have an all-powerful God who is in complete control of this situation and is weaving this chain of events for my ultimate good is comforting. And knowing that even if I don’t recover from this and die early, I know that because my faith is placed in Jesus, I will spend eternity together with Him. The doctor when he broke the news to me said “I wish everyone could respond as well as you’re responding”, I told Him that the reason I can respond well is because “I’m in a right relationship with God.” It really is the only reason.
Your prayers for myself and my family would be greatly appreciated during the season. If anyone would like to help us out in a tangible way as we walk through this process, you can donate through Paypal [Update: Not needed anymore]
100% of the money will be used to help cover the extra costs of things like hospital parking and medication as well as practical things which will lessen the load of my wife like take-out meals for my kids on days when she is too exhausted too cook.
————————————–
What does this mean for the Gospel eBooks? Thankfully Bryan Villarosa joined the GEB team as my assistant just over a year ago and is very familiar with what we do here. He takes a significant workload off me and is flexible to do other tasks as well. As a team we should be able to get you your daily deals, mostly every day without fail. However, there may be days when the pain was too intense or for other reasons the deals are delayed. So what I’m asking for is patience if we don’t always get the deals posted at the same time every morning. We will try to do our best!
A SPECIAL “THANK YOU” TO YOU! If you cannot financially give to my family, and you don’t lift up a prayer for my family, I still want to give you a big heartfelt thanks. Why? Because you regularly visit, share, and/or use Gospel eBooks. You are letting ME continue to provide for my family THROUGH cancer. I thankfully have the ability to still type and click but without the amazing readership we have here who come back daily, I couldn’t continue doing this. I recognize this as a HUGE blessing that few get to do. Because you’ve chosen to get you’re books here, you’ve helped my family and I out more than you know.
