“You have likely read the parables of Christ before, perhaps many times. But have they read you?” With this thought-provoking question, author Gerald Bilkes introduces readers to the concept of interpreting the Scriptures experimentally as he takes a heart-searching look at Christ’s parables.
In this spiritually rewarding Bible study, the author shows students of Scripture how to read the parables in a way that takes into account the truth that Scripture searches us as we subject ourselves to it. When we recognize this, we can expect Scripture to transform us.
An ideal tool for personal or group Bible study, with questions following each lesson, ‘Glory Veiled and Unveiled’ considers the contexts and main messages of twenty-five parables and puts our hearts under the “searchlight” of Scripture, guiding us into the knowledge of Christ, our gracious and glorious king.

Author:
Gerald M. Bilkes is professor of New Testament and biblical theology at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary, Grand Rapids.

The gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke are filled with well-known accounts of the miracles Christ performed. Christians love to reflect on Christ’s healing of the Gadarene demoniac, His raising to life Jairus’s daughter, and His bountifully providing food for five thousand hungry listeners. But author Gerald M. Bilkes doesn’t want us to study these miracles just because they are loved or well known. He wants us to value them for what they teach us about Christ. He writes, “When we study the miracles, we should never lose sight of the glorious and magnificent Christ who performed them. He still performs miracles in hearts and lives. . . . These things should astound us no less than the miracles He did when He was on earth.” This heart-warming, experiential look at twenty-two of Christ’s miracles, with questions following each chapter, is an excellent tool for personal or group Bible study and will lead you to the cross, the empty tomb, and the God who purposed and performed these important events of Scripture.

Endorsement:
“The Gospels are full of accounts of Jesus’ miracles. Why did Jesus do them? What do they have to say to us today? Gerald M. Bilkes will help you better appreciate the miracles for what they are— historical pointers to the glorious person and work of Jesus Christ. Mercy Revealed is a biblical, practical, and accessible survey of one of the leading features of our Lord’s earthly ministry. May this book help you better understand and love the Savior.” — Guy Prentiss Waters, James M. Baird, Jr. Professor of New Testament, Reformed Theological Seminary, Jackson, Mississippi
